Family Conflicts- Part 1

God wants us to have great and loving families. He is LOVE and therefore desires that love rules everywhere and that includes our love lives and families. However, there is an enemy around who sows the wrong seeds. He sows fights and conflicts in families.

Today and in few days to come, we shall be looking at Family

Scripture readings:

There is the man who speaks like the piercing of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health. Proverbs 12:18

He who is slow to anger is of great understanding: but he who is hasty of spirit exalts folly. Proverbs 14:29

What is a conflict?

The following are some of the definitions of conflict:

1) A conflict has been defined as a clash, contentious or sharp and irreconcilable disagreement over interest, ideas, beliefs, etc.

2) It is a serious disagreement and argument about something important.

3) It is a fight, struggle or combat.

4) It is active opposition, contention, collision, and clashing of principles.

Why disagreements?

There will be disagreements on some issues here and there in our love lives and families. Those disagreements simply mean that we are different or unique from each other. That means we do not completely look at the world the same way. However, that should not lead to a conflict.

Learn to look at issues or ideas with your loved ones from different angles and discuss the merits and demerits of a particular issue and then agree on what to do. That is why it is healthy for a couple to look at the world differently because you are not supposed to be a duplicate of the other but a compliment. That is why God made a special help for a man. A woman sees something that a man might not see. No one knows it all. This, therefore, means we need to appreciate and celebrate our differences in the family.

Adopt a way of dealing with differences or disagreements. Looking at things differently should not be a curse but a blessing. Each one’s perspective of things needs to be appreciated. By so doing, you will enjoy your marriage and family life. Be on the lookout for the next part of this subject. Blessings to you!
